A selection of photos has been received from David Archer, showing the destructive power of the Tyne.
Many of the photographs of the mid-Tyne villages, particularly Ovingham, Ovington and Stocksfield have been updated with additional information from Douglas Mennear, who has been accredited on each of the enhanced photos. Posthumous thanks to Douglas.
I have added a link in Gallery section 3.4.5 to the splendid video of the Remembrance Day Parade, 2015, produced by Sarah Eden of Prudhoe Town Council.
This new section, within the main heading 'Prudhoe & District Local History Society', contains recent pictures received for the website. They will be held here for a month or two to alert people that they are there and give them the chance to correct and/or enhance the entries. Anybody may contribute to this process. Some of these pictures have already been copied to the galleries. Others may or may not be copied, possibly dependent on whether or not further information is received that makes them historically significant.
New scrolled lists of local soldiers who have died in the wars have been received from Len Franchetti and updated in gallery section 3.5 Wars and Victory. They are now just about complete. New lists have now also been provided of soldiers who survived the conflicts and these are also in 3.5. Information relating to memorials and cemeteries is now available in scrolled lists in gallery section 3.6 War Memorials.
